Supplies:

  • Hieroglyphic charts

  • Cartouche template

  • texture tools

  • small bowls for water (sponges optional)

  • wooden skewers

  • clay mats

Prep:

  • roll clay 1/4 inch thick using clay roller

  • slice into approximate

Students:

  • Using hieroglyphic charts, practice writing name on a piece of paper.

  • Trace cartouche templates using wooden skewer over clay mat.

  • Carve english name into back of cartouche.

  • Using wooden skewer, carve name design into clay.

  • Carefully pick off crumbles of clay.

  • Decorate outside edges of cartouche

  • Punch two holes at the top using a straw.

Painting:

  • Fire to bisque ware and paint with acrylic paint.
